[articulation, Malmö Konsthall, 2008]

[articulation, Circa, Montreal, 2005]

Sixteen automated mechanisms, connected together with plastic pipes, TV antennas, wires, electronic control and mechanical switches, interact with each other in simple way. The mechanisms are built with found white objects [plastic and metallic articulations from toys and musical instruments] and porcelain cast showerheads. They have abilities to move on wire attach to the walls or to crawl on the floor.

The slowly moving mechanisms, as well as the series of wires attached to the walls, contribute to force the visitor to be careful and conscious of each of his movements while walking in the space.  Sounds are produced by the motors and by the movements of the mechanisms on the floor.

For the duration of the exhibition (one month), I have been involve in the process of creating wall drawings. At different moments while these mechanisms were moving on the wire, I have been drawing on the walls, using graphite, the outlines of their shadow projections. Their density was increasing over time.
